THYSELF

To know thyself with certainty,

is a fearful thing indeed.

To acknowledge your past,

all you never were but could have been,

To acknowledge the future,

all you could be but never will,

To live in the present,

with the pressing realisation of this.

To know thyself with certainty,

is a fearful thing indeed.

It’s getting rid of the shades of grey,

and realizing there is a line of morality.

To realize that you made grey,

by crossing it intermittently.

It’s looking back and seeing the steps,

wishing you could redo something.

To know thyself with certainty,

is a fearful thing indeed.

It’s to sit at the table of fates,

and still claim sanity.

It’s looking though a broken mirror,

and yet seeking clarity.

It’s seeing all the pieces,

and realizing it’s vanity.
