AFRICAN BOY

Expected to be strong from birth

To fight and secure even the mother

To protect even the older sisters

To tire daily as an african boy

Now a man

He’s still fighting

Nobody cares much about him

But he cares about everybody around

He’s expected to lower his ego

And kneel before a lady and propose

No matter the rejection

He still pushes further

He’s expected to have money

And cater for his needs and that of others

He’s expected to stay strong in everything

His tears is also one of his privacy

He undergoes depression alone

He cries in the bathroom

And still comes out of it stronger

He expected to push the limits further

He’s expected to stretch the boundaries

He’s expected to go to the grave full of achievements

But still a limited room for him in the society
