A top performance at both ends of the pitch in Porto did the job in some style with a single Kai Havertz goal deciding the contest and taking the trophy back to Stamford Bridge for a second time. Chelsea becomes the only team in London to win the European cup and they have won twice.
Havertz scored the Chelsea winning goal three minutes to go before half time. The 21 year old took a superb through ball by the exceptional Mason Mount beyond Ederson in the Mancity’s goal and stroked it in to the net, capping his debut season for the Blues in the best way possible. The game had some injuries forcing the managers to make un planned substitutions. Chelsea defender Thiago silva left the pitch before the end of first half and later in the second half Mancity lost Kevin De Bruyne.
It is a painful night to Manchester city family loosing at the Champions League finals considering this is the cup they have been in need of. To Pep it would have been his greatest accomplishment in this team as manager. Considering they have lost twice at the quarter finals in the seasons 2019/20 and 2017/18. Again after qualifying for the finals they are beaten by Chelsea the third time in the last three games they have played against them.
For Chelsea this becomes their second time to win this cup after they last did so in 2012. Chelsea played against Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena in Munich. Where they won through penalties after a 1 – 1 draw. And today at Estadio do Dragao in Porto they are winners of the cup again.
