The minister of education CS George Magoha has introduced a new selection formula for secondary school placement for 1,179,182 candidates who sat for the KCPE exams.
Ministry of education will conduct only one selection placement exercise which opened the process to parents and candidates to select their preferred schools during the second selection compared to last year.
The new formula will largely affects students who scored below 350 marks.According to CS George Magoha; 8,091 candidates scored above 400 marks and above while 282,090 candidates scored between 300 and 399 marks.
Education CS affirmed that the new process would ensure students get a fair chance in securing top slots in the National and county schools.
The form one selection process is usually influenced by merit, candidates choices, regional balance and affirmative action which opts to favor candidates inregion areas.
During the release of the KCPE exams results for the 2020 candidates which occurred on 15th of April,Magoha said that there would be 100 percent transition to all candidates into secondary schools.He also announced that the government would give 9000 scholarships to candidates from needy background.
