Timo Werner celebrates after scoring the only goal of the game against westham

It was Werner’s first goal since scoring the wining goal against Newcastle on February 15 and just his third in his last 32 appearances

It has been a tough season in front of goal for the summer recruit from RB Leipzig, who also managed to miss from six yards with the goal gaping just ten minutes after putting the visitors to London Stadium in front.

Timo was handed  plenty of chances to prove himself under coach Tuchel having Oliver Giroud and Tammy Abraham falling out favours for the German head coach and finally paid his bosses faith by netting the only goal in the game

Tuchel said Werner needs to keep scoring and catch a moment since he is quite often involved in Chelsea’s goals over the past weeks by winning fouls in the penalty area or with assists just like what he did during a clash with Manchester City.

Chelsea’s victory over the Hammers in Stratford was marred somewhat by an absurd red card to Fabian Balbuena ten minutes from time, who was sent off after a lengthy VAR check.

Hammers manager David Moyes described the decision as “rubbish” and added that it was made by someone who had never played the game.
